Christmas Do-It-Yourself (DIY)

diciembre 23, 2011

I’ve never been good at crafts, but when it’s Christmas time I develop an inexplicable desire to do things with my own hands (also known as DIY).

Until now, I’ve only dared with Christmas greeting cards and though sometimes the result hasn’t been as good as I expected, I’m sure that those who have received them, appreciate the time devoted and the loads of illusion I’ve put on them.

On the internet you can find several examples of easy crafts (kids level) for this Christmas. I hope that this ideas will motivate you to start using your little hands again.

The first example I’ve found is on rhonadesigns blog: an easy and recycled version of the traditional crystal snowball. As you can see you don’t need rare materials and the process looks quite simple too.

And what about leaving our fingerprint on a Christmas tree ball? With a few marker touches it turns into a cheerful reindeer.

If you’re not much into drawing, here’s a cool way of developing “collage” greeting cards using decorative wrapping paper and even colored buttons!

Paper trees are from mylifeandkids blog and buttons are from martha stewart.

Check out this beautiful door wreath made with old socks! You’d better wash them before if you want to get any visits!

If you’re not a traditional Christmas tree enthusiast, there are other options which add a fashionista touch to your home. Like this one from Lolly Chessie made with different colored papers.

Or these ones, seen at Wood&Wood stool, made with painted old wood planks.

These ornaments are a little bit more difficult to prepare but I’m sure the little ones will appreciate them. Basically it’s like baking bread. Once you take them from the oven just paint them and hang them from your Christmas tree.

Also, you can make your little ones put their feet on the dough so you can keep it as a childhood souvenir.

Regarding paper for gift wrapping, we’ve found these fun ideas: stamps made with potatoes and a crossword where you can write down the message you want.

For the laziest ones, here you have this Christmas tree from Imaginarium that you can decorate as you wish, and this nativity scene from MITIK.

Finally, I leave you with these amazing gift tags that some generous designers offer for free. You can download them and use them as gift tags. Easy isn’t it? Thanks to moredesignplease blog.
