DIY for kids

DIY manualidades letras niños

The other day I was talking with Laura from blog Lauralicious and told me she was looking for some DIY to do with her son Eric.

So today we present you some DIY ideas so that you can decorate your home with letters like we suggested here while having some fun with your kids.

Cardboard letters

At Cluck Cluck Sew they give us a great idea for very young minimoi (suitable for 3 year-old kids). You only need to cut a letter (you can use a shoe cardboard box) and paste all that you can find.

Letters with washi tape

You can also use washi tape to cover the letters (we presented washi tapes here).

Volume letters

You can also buy wooden letters and cover them with whatever you want. Another idea are fabric tapes (even more resistant than washi tapes and on sale at paramamis).

Check out the tutorial from Taller de las cosas bonitas:

Adhessive letters

Don’t miss out the tutorial from My sister’s suitcase if you want to create stickers:

With the same technique you can also create a cool picture (more details here).

Anyway for a proffessional result, you can join the workshops organized by 100% made with love or order directly one of their cute customized letters.

Have a nice weekend

DIY pompoms for decoration and parties

As promised in last week’s post (here) today we present you a selection of tutorials on how to do pompons.

It would have been so useful to me several months ago… OMG! I hate to say I paid more than 10 euros for the pompons of my minimoi’s 2nd birthday party. Since I paid so much I kept them after the party and put them at her bedroom (to redeem the cost).

Let’s start with paper pompons: perfects for parties!

One can also prepare multi-color pompons:

If you want to do small woollen pompons to add a pompon touch to cushions and other accessories, it’s pretty easy:

And finally a great idea to recycle old t-shirts: fabric pompons!

Do you dare with pompons?

DIY: blackboards

Now that I’m pregnant I need desperately a nice blackboard to take evolution pics of my bump. Since I haven’t found an original blackboard to display the weeks of pregnancy I’ve finally decided to do it myself.

My objective: to create a similar blackboard to the ones featured here:

At the moment I’ve bought a a nice frame, some blackboard painting (you can find it in different colors), a paint brush and a marker for blackboards (the one from Ordning&Reda can be washed and is cleaner than chalk).

It looks easy… I’ll tell you if I finally succeed with this DIY…

If not, I can always paint a wall and do some drawings in it!

Happy Wisemen Day!

I hope that the three wisemen have brought you plenty of presents! For those who are Gaspar fans, here comes our greeting card:

Enjoy this magical day!

Things to do with Washi Tape

Fashion and kid’s decoration with owls

buhos para niños

Last year was definitely the time of the reindeer (see here).

This season there’s still not a clear winner. In the case of adult fashion it looks like there’s a strong fight between tigers and owls but regarding minimoi wear it looks like the owl is going to win…

Burberry has been one of the greatest supporters of the owl. In fact this season one can find t-shirts and sweaters for dads, mums and kids with this lucky bird.

No need to mention that Zara have already created their own versions…

Even though where owls do really succeed is when they’re turned into accessories. Owl pendants for women have become extremely popular during the last seasons.

And regarding kids decoration owls are becoming a must have! Check out these modern owl cushions from Olula se casa and Bibu:

If you’re looking for exclusive fabrics, you’d probably love these vintage kimono cushions from Lila Pin:

You’ll surely remember danish brand Franck & Fischer. They do offer plenty of different items with owls (made of organic cotton).

If you’re looking for colorful cushions german Käthe Kruse has plenty of different models that look like patchwork:

Another decorative element that I love are delicate paper garlands from Rie Elise Larsen.

Although why not daring with a bit of DIY? This tutorial for Snuggly Owl has been one of the most downloaded and is tempting me to incorporate an owl in my minimoi’s room…

¿What do you think about this owl-obsession? ¿Will you adopt this friendly bird?

Minimoi’s summer exercise book

Do you remember the boring exercise books that we all had to do during summertime when we were kids? I always thought that they killed our creativity…plus in summertime, when kids are more creative than ever!

That’s why we want to present you some creative ideas that you can do with your minimoi…Ok, some of them are a little bit for grown-ups but they are so cool!

Let’s start with a summer classic which reminded us our follower Sara in the post “my first gift”: we are talking about painted stones.

They are so much fun! Here you have some ideas that we’ve found on the internet. Will you try them?

Another summer diy classic are seashell necklaces, but look at these ones! They look so different by adding some paint on them!

I also like these two more sailor-like, the one on the left made with baker’s twine is so simple and elegant, and the one on the right reminds me of a fisherman’s net.

How about updating a little bit the classic friendship bracelets by adding some chains and sparkles?

Finally I wanted to mention how funny are water tatoos. Look at these ones from Tattly! they are so cool, and you can even use them to decorate your notebooks..good idea!

A rose and a customized tale

Today everyone will be talking about books: the best books of the year, the author of that book, th bestsellers books…It’s a pitty that some of us don’t remember that age when you talked about tales instead of books.

That’s why today’s post is about tales, so that you can rescue your minimoi’s spirit for a while…and also they are customizable tales! Where your little child can be the absolut star.

Let’s start with the tales from Cuentis, where you have many stories to choose and customize easily by filling some gaps on the pages with your writting. And it’s not only for children, there are also some for grandmothers!

This one about monsters is super cool, I think someday it’ll be a nice gift. The price is 30€ aprox.

At fabuloos dreams you can add a photo of your child and make him appear all over the tale, making him live incredible stories. They cost 35€ aprox.

And finally, for those who like audiobooks, Lali Rondalla offers customized audiobooks with your child’s name and songs to make it more fun. It costs 29€ aprox.

And as in my homeland it is Sant Jordi (St Georges), we have the tradition to give roses, I also leave you this fabulous DIY giant paper roses. Here you will find the complete tutorial.

And for those who don’t like muy DIYs, well you can always go to “au nom de la rose” and buy a nice basket full of roses like this, or some rose petals candies….mmm! I’m just giving some ideas…

I hope you all liked it and have a nice Sant Jordi!!!
