Little Barcelona: our favorites (part two)

Although it’s been a few days since the Little finished, we still haven’t forgotten it. Here you have some more news about it that we still had to tell you.

ROCKY HORROR BABY

We love this collection from these 2 sisters: the navy stripes mixed with super funny illustrations are really cool, and how about their messages? Daddy is a freak, I cry therefore I exist…Simply genius!

LITTLEPHANT

Another great surprise has been the new littlephant bags collection, from Kmfamily. The prints are precious and they are really versatile, you can use them as maternity bags or as an ordinary bag to hang out with some friends.

MELIC

We really love that this modern shop from Gracia has launched their first basics collection for babies. They are really brave, for those who don’t like the classic pastel colored bodies. They have super bright colors plus a retro style design: check the blue and black body it’s so cool!

SOM NENS

Som nens are really brave too, they wanted to innovate in work coats by making thes cool work coats designs. Also they are a social project and they are produced by people at risk of social exclusion. Good for Somnens!

TECKEL GREEN

This is one of this brands that you can perfectly picture yourself wearing their clothes. Everything is so cute! We specially like this white dress and the shorts and bluse outfit. Also check this paisley printed blouse…it’s really trendy.

LALALATOYS

In order to satisfy our amigurumi obsession, here comes Lalalatoys, a brand that does size XXL amigurumis. They are so cool to decorate your minimois room! Also they do customized amigurumis that can look like anyone you want. It’s a perfect gift!

Our Little Barcelona’s summary has come to an end. Thanks to the organizers for inviting us once again. We enjoyed very much watching the new trends for 2013, and we anxiously wait to see them at the shops! We hope you all liked our little Barcelona’s vision.

Piknic Electronik Barcelona

piknic festival - minimoi

A few days ago we wrote about summer music festivals intended for adults and kids (see here). So, well now we have great news for electronic music lovers because Piknic Électronik comes to Barcelona after several successful editions in Montréal and Gatineau.

Piknic Électronik unlike other festivals doesn’t offer music for kids but a common space in which adults can listen to the best Dj’s while their minimois play in a kid friendly environment.

At the end an unconventional “piknic” where traditional picnic baskets (see here) mix with Rayban wayfarer’s naturally.

The location is great in the Joan Brossa Gardens near the Montjuic Castle with plenty of shadows and cool summer breeze while being only a few minutes away from Barcelona city (easily reachable by car and public transportation).

There are 3 different areas:

  • kid’s zone with a mini skate park (with free skate classes) and some inflatable attractions
  • picnic zone (with tables and green grass)
  • adults zone: with the best dj’s playing at loud sound

By the way, if you forget your socks to get into the inflatable attractions, you can always buy these funny dino’s ones at the festival’s shop.

Entry costs:

  • General: 10€
  • Before 15h: 8€
  • Reduced (Carnet Jove): 8€
  • Kids below 12: free
  • Season pass: 30€

Tickets can be bought at the festival’s entry. Sunday 23rd of september (La Mercè) the entry is free.

For more info check their website (here).

Little Barcelona: our favorites (part one)

In this new Little Barcelona’s edition we had the pleasure to see again brands such as tocotó vintage, petit oh!, beetú, visual poetry or piu et nau…But we also got the chance to meet new cool brands.

Despite we are still loyal to our “classics”, let’s see what other new surprises we found at Little.

KIDZ-ART

This brand from Holand has captivated us with this “indian” inspired dresses, so colorful and with fun pom-poms. Also we like this japanese fish print from this red dress.

MON MARCEL

The winners of Junior design awards 2012 Mon Marcel offers us an exquisite collection with mini rubber-soled slippers and floral prints combined with cardigans. I specially like this flowers outfit combined with an intense rose cardigan.

TUMBLE N’ DRY

Another brand from holand that is super cool. We love this irregular stripped t-shirt and this glitter mustard jacket. For boys, this baseball jacket is really fun.

MINIDUNADU

From minidunadu we enjoy their “beachtime” clothing and specially this jumper-fabric that comes in a skirt and also in this “here comes the sun” t-shirt.

MONSTRES

Monstres’s clothing is ideal for kids that love playing: they can dress like princesses or dinosaurs as casual clothing. We really love the idea of this tulle-skirt jumper.

LONDJI

Our Londji friends really know about toys! They are cool designers that make the most beautiful toys in the world! Look at their illustrations, and their packaging! Maybe that’s why they only sell them in museum shops, because they are real artists. Check out this fruit spinning tops, it is no wonder why they won Delta Awards ’12…So cool!

We’ll be back with other new favourites from Little barcelona’s Fair. Keep following us!

Little Barcelona 2nd Edition

Yesterday we were at the opening of Little Barcelona’s second Edition and as usual we enjoyed it very much.

This new edition comes full of surprises and it is amazing how in such a little time it has had such an extraordinary growth, almost 100 brands participate in it and it its now linked to another important fashion event called 080 Barcelona Fashion.

The place is spectacular, Pedralbes Palace is very spacious and is very charm, so walking there watching all the brands is a double pleasure: beautiful place and beautiful stands.

But today we won’t highlight any brands because we still have to investigate a little more this afternoon.

Today we only leave you with yesterday’s event which was the catwalk of brands such as Piu et Nau, Nice things Mini, Tumble n’dry or Maxomorra…

Despite the bad weather we enjoyed it so much, the designs were cool and the kids were real artists, specially when they performed a dance for Tumble n’Dry…impressive!

A path of apples lead us to the catwalk where the show begun.

It looks like this new edition is very promising, we will keep on telling you about it.

And finally we leave you with this video of the superb moment when the little kids performed the dance on the catwalk. Hope you like it!

Reward charts or star charts

calendario recompensa niños - minimoi

Yes, I admit it… I’m a fan of the TV series Supernanny in both the british and the spanish version. Even before having my minimoi I got addicted to the episodes where she turned a chaotic home into a peaceful oasis by only applying positive attention, praise and a few simple but clear rules.

So now I’m already practising some of her tricks and I have to say they work!

Something that I haven’t already tried are the Reward charts (that can be used with kids from 3 years old on).

Images from amazon.co.uk

The idea is pretty simple. The Reward Chart is used to state the kid’s 4 or 5 behaviors you want to reinforce. You award stickers for good behaviour, and when your child has collected enough stickers you can reward him with a treat or an outing.

Depending on the age you can also remove a sticker from the chart when your child misbehaves, but it’s key to explain him why you are doing this, so he understands there are consequences for his bad behaviour. It’s also possible to create a shared chart for all the siblings so that they learn to work together towards the same objective.

You can download for free plenty of reward charts from the internet (i.e. here) and if you’re creative you can also DIY (see here).

In my case since I’m not very much into crafts, it’s highly probable that I end up buying a reward chart like these ones from Baby Deli.

By the way, they’re giving away 2 items till next week so if you’re interested just click on this link.

Have a nice weekend! On Monday we’ll be back with more info about Little Barcelona!

Swim diapers for babies

swim diapers babies - minimoi

The first summer of my minimoi I must admit that I made some mistakes… Since I had a baby girl I got excited at the idea of seeing her wear nice swimsuits but after buying 4 in one of my compulsive shopping attacks I quickly realized that…

  1. Swimsuits are very complicated to put on so baby gets very angry
  2. They aren’t “leak-proof” so if you don’t put a diaper as well, you can consider yourself lucky if they keep dry for the picture
  3. They obviously get wet when you put the baby in the water so you have to take them off quickly to prevent baby from getting cold when out of the water (and he/she gets mad again)
  4. If you’ve put a diaper, you have to take it all off, in order to change it
  5. They usually aren’t UV-protected so you need to put a lot of sunscreen or a shirt on it

In conclusion I took some pictures and never used them again. Instead I bought her a UV-protected shirt (like the ones I talked about here) and disposable diapers.

These are the nice swmisuits I bought…

Till one day I discovered the reusable swim diapers which I prefer to the disposable ones because…

  1. They’re anti-leaks so the towel doesn’t get wet
  2. They look so cute, like a real swimsuit
  3. They’re ecological and cheap since you just have to buy one once and then wash it

The brand I bought was Swedish ImseVimse. I’m really happy with it because it’s very easy to put on and take off thanks to the side buttons. You can find them in different stores such as Baby Deli (which also has an online store click here).

Kushies is another brand that you can find at Eurekakids

Images by Kushiesonline

At Decathlon there’s only the brand called “Arena” with two swim diapers in pink and blue. If you’re looking for more flashy prints, you should also check the brand called Mayo Parasol.

Mayo Parasol also offers some anti-UV and anti-leak shorts.

And at last in imaginarium they sell the brand called Aquanappies.

Did you know abour swim diapers? Do you like them or do you prefer the disposable ones?

Mustache Kids

As many of you may know, the mustache trend is on fire…There are mustaches everywhere: in mugs, pillows, accessories, clothes…

The mustache-mania has reached the kid’s fashion too so let’s see a selection of mustache stuff that we like.

At “le cerise sur le gateau” they have many mustache-themed stuff, for example this cute dodou. We also found these baby blankets at an etsy shop called little hipsqueaks. And for the little ones this fun onesie from handsome howard and these tiny shoes from pleasantlyplumpknits.

We also found this cool shop at etsy called “mama runs with scissors” where they have t-shirts with mustache stitched made of different fabrics.

In this selection we can see mustache pendants, one from accessorize and the wooden one is from “le petit pot”. From “la cerise sur le gateau” as we said, there is also this funny baby bib and this pillow with several mustache categories.

These chocolat lollipops from chocolat factory are a nice little treat, and so it is this cool watch from Asos.

I really love this “le moustache” shirt, it’s a pitty that it’s completely out of stock…Luckly there is this “bon jour” shirt from River Island that you can still buy at Asos.

At Tiger’s you can find many mustache things, for example these socks. And how funny is this pillow from blablablakids!

If you like mustache fashion it is easy to have something mustache; here you have an easy DIY to make your own mustache mug.

Vive la moustache!
