Tribute to Ingela

ingela - minimoi

Today I want to share with you one of my latest discoveries: the wonderful illustrations and designs of Ingela P Arrhenius!

My obsession started a few days ago in the kmfamily showroom at The Grokstore (see here) when I fell in love with some fun and naïve objects very minimoi style.

¿Do you remember the colorful animal-faced dishes?

¿And what about some of the ABC posters at The Grokstore?

Well, guess what their alma mater is no other than this Swedish illustrator who loves the design of the 50′s and 60′s. So today we want to present you a brief selection of some of her artwork so that you can judge for yourself.

There are no boundaries to her creativity and by now, her illustrations have given birth to several products such as books…

Kitchen towels and dish cloths…

Coffee mugs…

And even child tattoos to name a few…

It’s for sure not the last time you’ll hear about her so is there any better way to end up this post that with a “hello!”?

Puffs for kids

kids pouffes -minimoi

From all the furnitures, there’s one that always catches the eye of guests and children: the puff. But even though I always enjoy seating on them, I never considered seriously buying one for home.

Well not, until I discovered these ones from Polkaros.

So now I’m looking for the perfect puff: comfortable, fun and small enough to fit into my flat. That’s the reason why now I check all the tags of every puff that crosses my way.

Wesco is one of the brands I discovered “on the go” at my minimoi’s nursery school. They’re specialized in school furniture and apart from puffs have a wide range of resistant and safe furniture.

The puffs from P’kolino are fun and don’t take much space.

Like these ones with “ears” from Gegant.

Although if you want to have something that fits everywhere check these stacking puffs from be.

The highest customization is offered by mipuf. In their website one can find big soccer, basketball and tennis ball-like puffs where you can add the name you want.

Dutch brand Colorique designs nice and original shapes like these jeep and submarine that also look very comfortable.

Design freaks will love Smarin stones. Don’t you think these pics are impressive?

And at last, if you don’t have space problems don’t forget these huge puffs from fatboy and buddabag.

Don’t you fancy a nap now?

First flagship store of Piu et Nau

When we found out that after 4 years in the market, Piu et Nau opened its first flagship store in Barcelona we really wanted to visit it, so one of us went there a few days ago to share with you this new finding.

You may not remember it but Piu et Nau was one of the brands from Tiny Barcelona’s giveaway. We loved the soft cotton body which is its most popular product and we also liked its simplicity in all of its clothes.

The shop is near Turó Park, at Ferran Agulló street, and the thruth is that it’s very cute, it really represents the essence of the brand: wood walls, antique furniture, soft lightning, all makes it a comfy environment.

As they say on their website they do “basics but not that basic”, and I think it’s a good definition because their clothes look simple but they really watch the detail to make them comfortable and elegant at the same time.

For example, in this picture you may not see it well but these bodies have a little weave that looks beautiful.

I also like this overall with its belt, and you can find it in many colors. And how about the hangers? They are made with collage technique by an artist called Batiscafo monoplácido…aren’t they cool?

This t-shirt is available in baby version and adult too! I can tell you that they are really comfortable!

Also, at first they didn’t expect it but it seems that green isthe best seller color in the shop. And it’s no surprise to me because I really like these grey t-shirt and green shorts mix.

And that’s all, we hope you liked it and that you visit the shop whenever you want, where you can find beautiful and fresh clothes for the summer.

Yellow sunshine

The most representative color of summer should be yellow, a color that reminds us of the sun, the beach and cheers us up.

It’s a pitty that the rest of the year it’s a color that is almost forgotten, except in its less bright versions such as mustard, that has been a very trendy color this season. I prefer bright yellow, especially in accessorizing and though at first I resist to it when I wear it I feel like a child with brand new shoes, just like when I wear these dr. scholl’s sandals that I bought a few days ago in Natura shop.

As always, children have more options in these type of colors, maybe it’s because they love bright colors. A touch of yellow brightens up every outfit , if you don’t believe it check this selection.

1.Cardigan from le petit bateau/ 2. Cat eye sunglasses from finger in the nose/3. Belt from Bobo Choses/ 4. Sneakers Spring Court/ 5. Sweedish Hasbeens

I also like yellow shorts mixed with white t-shirts. At Zara Kids they have several yellow shorts that I love like these girl ones that have flowers on them. I also love the overall from mini rodini that you can find at Tiny Barcelona, or the white one with a tiny yellow pocket from Zara.

I love the dress on the left and I would really like for me this animal print top! And what do you think of this funny mini rodini’s sweater? Isn’t it cute?

You can also check how good yellow looks on deco, for example: this yellow cupboard or these beautiful yellow elephant pillow from etsy.

Are you also a great fan of yellow?

Kmfamily showroom at The Grokstore

kmfamily showroom - minimoi

If you’re in Barcelona tomorrow morning and you don’t have any plan yet, don’t miss out kmfamily‘s showroom at The Grokstore (C/París 215).

They open at 11h with a free Washi Tape workshop and you’ll be able to buy clothes and decorative elements since 14h at very affordable prices.

I’ve been there today so here is my tiny selection of what I’ve liked the most…

Attention to “Washi” paper rolls! Don’t they look like yummy cupcakes?

Check out these funny melamine dishes…

And finally some pics about The Grokstore shop as well. I’m sure we’ll be back soon. Don’t you remember the obsession of my sister with letters in this post (here)?

Have a nice weekend!

Shared rooms boys and girls

habitación niño y niña

Nowadays if you live in the city is it’s almost impossible to give each of your kids their own room. The most usual is that they share a bedroom (like my sister and I did, by the way).

There are plenty of themed rooms intended for kids of the same gender. But things get a little bit more complicated when a girl and a boy have to share a room. In that case one can tend to create a less customized ambient.

So today, we present you a selection of nice shared rooms for boys and girls.

Sometimes is only a matter of choosing the right complements. Look at these beds, they’re exactly the same furniture but pillows, bed linen and the wall stickers make the difference.

I also like the idea of putting your child name on the bed headboard or decorating the wall with a different painting (a butterfly vs a caterpillar, no boys vs no girls, a car vs flowers,…).

Berths are always a good option when you lack space, but if you can put separate beds, check out these colorful wall stickers that look like bed headboards.

Sometimes, when your kids grow up they’ll want to have more “air” between them. In that case, shelfs, tables and curtains can help create a line between their worlds.

The only thing that bores me a bit is the blue vs pink classic. Maybe it’s because our room was pink and I ended up hating this color…

Even though, when I discovered this last picture I realized how difficult it is to resist to pink temptation…

Visit to Lulabu’s showroom

Natalia from Lulabú received us in a beautiful modernist flat at Ravella’s street where she has settled a little showroom that you can visit until the 8th of June in Barcelona.

As you may remember we first mentioned Lulabú when we were looking for bandana baby bibs (watch post here).

In her showroom, apart from meeting her lovely side, she showed us her new collection made with absolutely exquisite fabrics. Some of them are really special, for example she showed us a vintage fabric from the 60s and other fabrics that she bought in England…It really looks like she picks very carefully all the prints.

And also she produces everything all by herself…This girl is a true artist and she is autodidactic! Both of us where amazed when she told us  how she started sewing since she was a little kid…A few days ago her mother showed her a hankerchief that she sewed when she was only 8 years old!

One of her latest works is a vintage bib made according to an old bib pattern that her mother used to have. Also she has new pacifier hangers.

And though she keeps on doing her packs (pacifier hanger+bib+bandana bib) she is starting to innovate with other accessories: belts, rubber bands…

Also she has started to work with a friend of hers, Jen, with a new line of products called Lúlabu leather and fabrics: a 100% lovely handmade collection that combines leather with beautiful fabrics. How did she came out with this idea? Well, nothing can surprise us more about Natalia…a friend of hers inherited some leather sewing machines and she didn’t know what to do with them…There she was Natalia to let herself go and follow her destiny…

We left the showroom really happy, she gave us a little bandana for Roser’s minimoi and to me she took measurements to make me a belt that I loved so much.

And there’s also something to you too…soon there will be a Lulabú’s giveaway…It’ll be spectacular so keep on following us!

If you are having plenty of weddings, christenings and other elegant events this season, don’t worry because you don’t need to spend a fortune on new dresses and clothing.

I’ve discovered that the right complements can change the look of an already used outfit and give it the perfect twist.

One of my favourite are kid’s diadems and headbands. So today we present you Le Vent Atelier, a brand that we like because of their uniqueness and care in the elaboration of their products.

Rocío is the alma matter of this project which we discovered during the last Little Barcelona. The good news is that this month you can participate in our giveaway and get one of their articles for free.

Cool little feet and very fashionable

Finally we got rid of the socks and we can walk bare feet again…I have to confess that at the beginning it’s a little bit hard to me, maybe because my feet are ugly and pale, but I usually forget this thought when I’m watching my perfect sandals for this summer.

Last day I imagined myself wearing a pair of swedish hasbeens and I thought it was the right time to get used to not wearing socks anymore.

I don’t know what I like most: SJP wearing them or swedish hasbeens advertising campaign with these retro gym look.

These original clogs from the 70s are still being handmade using natural materials and are respectful with the environment.

The little ones are lucky to have a mini swedish hasbeens version for themselves! If the adult ones are already a piece of art, the small ones maybe gorgeous! (You can find them at little fashion gallery)

Another summer’s classic are Birkenstock sandals, which at first I didn’t like at all but I’m starting to find them very comfy and useful specially when your feet are inflated. As you can see this kid’s version are very fun and “tourist-like”.

What would a summer be without a pair of havaianas? Your minimoi can also wear them and be as fashionable as you. Although I like the classic model, I think for the smallest ones is better the one that has a string on the back.

Melissa sandals are also a summer hit and these girl’s ones are super cute. I also have discovered a brand that is called native and that has these awesome rubber shoes with tiny holes to aid transpiration.

Finally there are the traditional “médusa” shoes…yes, the ones you hated when you were a kid come back to “torture” the new generations…And the worst of all is that now you think they are really fashionable because the new ones have glitter!! And that makes the difference…

Ups! I forgot to talk about Crocs…I’m sorry but they may be very comfortable but I completely agree with this:
