If Saturdays are always a great day, there are 2 of our readers that will start the day in a greater mood, if possible. Because, yes, we already have the names of the two winners of this month giveaway.

But before, we want to thank PetitOh! for trusting us. Just bear in mind that if you aren’t one of the winners you can buy this cool socks at their online shop PetitOh! or at their stores in Barcelona (Pza Libertad 14 o Mariano Cubí 191).

Let’s start with the winner of the facebook contest. Her name is Raquel Maria Gonzalez Barroso and she gets the two Trumpette packs that she likes the most for inviting 19 friends to minimoi. We’ll soon contact you Raquel!!

Regarding the winner of one of the Trumpette packs, 59 people have participated in the giveaway and the number selected by Random.org has been # 7: Isabel! We’ve got your email address so we’ll put you in contact with Petit Oh! as well.

Congratulations to both of you and keep reading minimoi because on Monday we’ll present you our next giveaway. Have a nice weekend and for those who start Easter holidays, enjoy!

The spring is here…and so are the liberty prints!

Almost at the same time that “the Corte Inglés department store” announces that it’s springtime, the shops (and the streets) get full of floral prints…What some people don’t know is that there is an specific print that stays all over the years and is still on fashion: the “liberty print”.

Some history…Where does liberty print come from?

The origins of the liberty print go back to 1939, when Arthur Lasenby Liberty, a british (and clever) businessman, decides to set up a company called Liberty&Co, which becomes popular because of its small flower print’s fabrics.

Nowadays Liberty&Co still exists, and they keep on selling things made with its liberty print.

1. Eye mask from otis batterbee/ 2.Tea cup royal albert 3. Watch Liberty London/ 4. suitcase Liberty London

At Zara Home Kids, they know how popular are liberty prints and that’s how there is a whole section called “Liberty Fabrics” where you can find anything you wish and more for your child’s bedroom made of liberty prints.

Also at Zara kids they have some cute clothes for this summer. (the overall and the jacket are from Zara kids and the underwear and dress are from Zara Home Kids)

At H&M and Benetton you can also find floral prints, though at H&M they don’t look much “liberty-like”.

The french Brand Emile et Ida has a wide liberty print collection.

At Nobodinoz we also found these fun options:

This overall from poppy rose drives me crazy and you can find this brand at bambolabcn shop, the other one from Louis Louise is available on Smallable and the peter pan collar dress is from petit Bateau.

And finally I leave you with these beautiful baby shoes from Trousselier.

Diane von Furstenberg and GAP Exclusive Collection

DvF GAP minimoi

On the 28th of March Diane von Furstenberg Exclusive Collection for GAP Kids and Baby GAP will be made available for most of european citizens (online and in GAP shops). It looks like the H&M successful collaboration with well-known fashion designers is contagious, fortunately!

We’ll see if after this experience DvF decides to enter the kids world like Stella McCartney did. We love her colorful prints (even more at the affordable GAP Price).

In their american site (where US citizens can buy the collection since the 15th of March) dresses cost around 60USD. But if you’re compulsive online buyers like me I recommend you to read before some of the comments of other buyers since they say that quality could be much improved.

Do you like this collection? Are you compulsive online buyers like me?

Ceiling Lamps for kids

It’s strange but, until now I hadn’t ever looked at something so important in a child’s room decoration such as ceiling lamps.

During our latest obsession to change all the house lights for led lights (I say “our obsession” but I should say “his obsession” instead), we decided to change our “children’s bedroom”* light for a more childish one that could be compatible with led bulbs.

You can’t imagine how hard it is to look for a lamp when you have no idea of how it’s going to combine with all the stuff you pretend to put inside that room someday: an Inke sticker, some bunting flags, an eames rocking chair…

After lots of searching, we fell in love with a design classic: the Verner Panton’s Flowerpot; which captivated us for its simplicity and its beautiful mint colour that reminded me of Minimoi’s official colour.

*It’s called like that but there aren’t any kids inside for the moment…unless there is some creepy phantom kid from” the others” film.

We first saw it at Biosca Botey shop, but it was quite expensive, so we kept on looking for it on the Internet and we finally found a shop called Nordicthink where it was a little bit cheaper.

Anyway, during the “lamp searching process”I found many other options that I also liked, so here’s my selection…

This one made of wicker looks cool, also these classic japanese paper lanterns.

This Nimbus lamp available on Smallable website is also a fun choice.

At Ikea you can find amazing lamps (also cheap ones!) that can add a modern touch to your nursery.

These crochet ones are priceless (so priceless that I don’t even know where to buy them), and also this Lampgustaf that you can knit as you wish.

I also like the midsummer light made of paper (I saw It a few days ago on sale at Pilma shop).

And finally…of course! This party-like bunting lights…I definitely have a problem with that :)

Proud fathers: t-shirts for father’s day

For many of you, today will be your first father’s day, for some others it will be again ,and for others may not even remember it because they have ascended from dads to grandpas.

Anyway, what they all have in common is that they feel very proud of their sons, that’s why in minimoi we wish to give the “new daddys” some ideas so they can start showing up that they are proud to be fathers. We will keep it simple by showing you some t-shirts and bodies ideas.

NOÑOÑO

At Noñoño they have this funny t-shirt for father and son, and for starwars freaks, this funny body saying “I’m your son”.

ROCK 01 BABY

At Rock 01 baby they have these genius options for dads that rock.

ETSY

At etsy we found these beautiful bodies with a tatoo style heart from kizart and these cute father and son t-shirts from zoeysattic saying “I make adorable babies”.

MARIA SARMIENTO

Also in Etsy we have found this great idea from Maria Sarmiento’s shop, where they design personalized t-shirts with your child’s drawings. This is real father’s pride.

And to get a little bit more on the mood, we leave you with this beautiful Cat Steven’s song called “Father & Son”.

Happy father’s day to you all!

I’m drooling: Bandana baby bibs

The first time I saw a baby wearing a bandana bib I thought…wow! How fashionable is that baby! Then I asked his mother about the funny accessory and she told me that the real use for that was so that the kid didn’t drool on the clothes; his teeth were coming out and he couldn’t stop drooling.

Although I have still haven’t found the right moment to give a baby a bandana bib (my niece almost had all of her teeth when I discovered them) I have always thought that when I’ll have kids they are all going to wear bandanas bibs! They won’t get dirty, plus they won’t suffer from skin irritation caused by the drooling.

PEQUES GUAPOS

At pequesguapos they have many cute designs. Apparently it’s founder discovered them on a trip at Sweeden (the bib’s fashion is very extended there) and started selling bandana baby bibs designed and produced in Sweeden.

KIWISAC

We already talked about kiwisac in the Maternity Bags post and we are glad to know that they also have bandana bibs…The prints combination is so original!

LULABÚ

These bandana bibs are very elegant, with soft colours such as grey , brown…and their fine prints. We also like the “gift packs” including pacifier hanger, bandana bib and baby bib. Some of them have velvet on the inside and a click button.

You can buy them at their on-line store or if you live in Barcelona at Green Wood shop (C/ ravella 2).

LIL’ADI

This Etsy store has amazing bandana bib designs and since Baby Talk magazine published a review about them they have received lots of orders.

And It’s no surprise, because they are wonderful…Let’s see if some of their prints reminds you of something…We posted it recently in another minimoi entry.

BABY BANDITO

Another etsy shop with beautiful prints; I specially like the robot one and the forest animals one.

Did you already know about bandana baby bibs? Do you drool when you see them?

Minimúsica: a very cool present

All the babies should have a cool uncle. In my case this uncle was Josep: an endless traveller that always brought great presents from far and exotic destinations.

When I listen to Manel’s song “Boomerang” it reminds me of him and his awesome gifts: a coloured jersey, a bag with arms and legs, a Tibetan bell, a bird that came back when thrown, a sheriff’s plaque with my name on it, an anime t-shirt, some Chinese sticks, a necklace with my name in hieroglyphics,…

In the case of my daughter, all the aunts and uncles are great but if one had to be the most “indie” this would be our brother Joaquim.

Because, who bought her a Rockefella shirt when she was 3 months old? Who is dreaming of taking her to the kids section of Primavera Sound? And, who else would have thought of buying a year old girl a minimúsica CD?

For those that don’t know minimúsica, it’s an educative project intended to generate artistic and musical interest on kids. They organize concerts, create kids playing zones in festivals such as Primavera sound and Gardens of Cap Roig, edit books and unconventional music CD’s for the little ones.

Till now they’ve launched two musical CD’s called: food and transportation. I’ve got the second one that contains 10 songs in Catalan, Spanish and English by: Me&The Bees, Viva Ben-Hur, Evripidis & his Tragedies, Za! and Mujeres. Each CD contains a beautifully designed booklet with the lyrics.

Don’t expect to find versions of the traditional kid’s songs (there’s even a rap). Undoubtedly, an original gift that will delight the most indie-alternative kid’s (and parents).

Minilooks: Miss Golightly & Cherry Blossom Girl

We present you our new section “Minilooks from Minimoi!”

In this section we will choose different looks that we like and we will try to imitate them by making it’s child version, so that your minimoi can keep up with the latest trends.

Miss Golightly’s minilook

Our first Minilook choice is a classic…The clothes that Audrey Hepburn wore during the famous singing scene at Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The truth is that this look is astonishing because of its simplicity and elegance: blue jeans, a grey hoodie, black ballerina shoes and a guitar…Who needs more?

For this look we have made this fun outfit: some jeans from Finger in the Nose, an ESP N1 hoodie and some baby bloch ballerinas…Well and this beautiful ukelele from Olivelse.

The Cherry Blossom Girl’s Minilook

We love this fashion blogger’s style…She always has this french-vintage touch in her clothes, and knows well how to mix it. A good example of it is this elegant and easy to imitate look: a stripped t-shirt, beige skirt and red bag.

In its minimoi version we have found this stripped sweater from H&M, a Kiabi skirt and this minibag (very “chanel-like”) from Claire’s. Isn’t it a very simple and yet glamorous outfit?

If you wish to suggest any minilook we are open to it!, well unless it’s a Snooki minilook…

Maternity bags for the hospital and weekend escapes

My Bag's bolsas canastilla

When you’re about to become a mum for the first time you realize that everyone wants to sell you anything. In the furniture shop they ask you if you’ve got your maternity bag that matches the baby’s room. Where you’ve bought the baby stroller they ask you if you want the bag for the hospital in the same print and not to mention that they ask you the same question when you buy your baby’s first clothes. So you end up wandering: do I really need a special bag to carry the 4 minithings that the baby will need at the hospital?

Well, the answer is NO. You can go to the hospital with your current suitcase or any travel bag you have. Then why are there those soft-colored bags made of cotton or leather so typical for babies?

I have no clue but if they were that great and necessary people would buy them before having kids for a weekend escape, don’t you think?

So when I couldn’t take any more pressure around the hospital bag, I decided at least to pick a practical bag that I could reuse (and that wouldn’t look dirty after two uses).

I finally found my ideal bag: this Dwell Studio multicolor bag that I bought in limo bebe. It has the perfect size for WE and to be considered hand luggage for plane travelling.

In Little Barcelona we discovered the spanish Brand My Bag’s. They design cool and practical bags in a lot of  different prints. We really like their packs for only 59,95€.

Another great discovery for chic mamas are Petunia Pickle Bottom’s bags in organic cotton (treated to be water resistant). If paparazzi await for you to come out of the hospital, with these bags you’ll look great on the picture.

In kiwisac they have water resistant bags in different prints and colors. They have even single-colored bags for daddies.

And finally check this travel bags from Reisenthel. They’re very affordable and you’ve got dozens of different prints to choose from. The only thing is that they’re not “baby bag’s” so they don’t have a lot of pockets.

Do you like typical baby bags or you prefer a more versatile bag?
